Thanks to WillHosting.com, OctoPic.com and the 120,000+ pics hosted on it is temporarily back up! After many attempts at getting OctoPic back up permanently, we decided that it was just not going to work, but we also didn’t just want to leave you guys without anything and loose all of your pictures. So we contacted WillHosting.com, and they agreed to temporarily host OctoPic for 2 weeks. This is great because now it gives you the opportunity to use your image link to view your image, download it onto your computer, and upload it to another image host. You will also notice that all the images on OctoGFX and OctoBeats are now working. We are doing our best to go through every post within this two weeks and relink all the images so they are hosted on another image host, so the posts will be working from now on.
Unfortunately OctoPic.com is not working right now. We were hosting it using FatCow.com, and FatCow decided to unreasonably shut us down after we had 120,000+ images hosted on it. Click here for an update video with more information on why they shut us down. And because we used OctoPic to host all the images on OctoGFX.com, most of the posts on OctoGFX.com are useless. That leaves 2 OctoSites hurt, because FatCow host lied to us and made us believe that we could run an image hosting website on their server. We’re working on a solution. We either need to buy our own server or find a better web hoster. We don’t know how long it will be until both sites are fully operational, but we are hoping that when they are both back up, your images will be back up too. Sorry for the huge inconvenience, but it is truly not our fault.
If you visit OctoLOL.com right now you will see a notice letting you know that OctoLOL.com is gone. OctoLOL.com used to be a place for funny pictures and videos. OctoLOL wasn’t doing as well as we wanted it to, and updating it with new content was too much work for us to keep up with. Although the loss of OctoLOL makes us sad, we are excited to announce a new OctoSite that we are sure you guys will love! We don’t want to give too much away yet but stay tuned for more info!
After a couple weeks of having OctoURL.com up, we realized that although it is a good name and it does match the rest of the OctoSites, it’s way too long for a url shortening website. People want their URL’s as short as they can get, especially now ,with popular sites like twitter, because people are limited to how long they can type. Although we are keeping OctoURL.com as the main domain, we have bought and installed a “hidden” domain named octo.in. So you can either go to OctoURL by typing in octo.in or octourl.com. We wanted to keep OctoURL.com the main domain because it matches the names of the other OctoSites, and it’s also easier to remember. But, either way, when you shorten your URL your URL will look something like – octo.in/ub (leads to octogeek). So now your URL is a lot shorter than before! :]
The Octogeek.com Forum is the place to learn and show off your skills! It’s a place to interact with other members of the artistic community. Start asking or share your work! Go post!
Remember that all content under the “Show Off” section must be 100% made/owned (rights) by you.
For graphic design, brushes and stock images will be allowed ONLY if they’re a minor part of your work. Other wise, it will be taken down.
For audio production, sounds from FL Studio, Reason, Cubase, etc.. are allowed as long as they’re not used for commercial profits. No sampling!!!
